Does God Really Love Me? · The ebook by Dr. Raymond Campbell

“I believe God loves the world. I’m just not sure He loves me.”

If you’ve ever thought that sentence, even quietly, this book was written for you. In plain words, straight from the Bible, it shows you three things: God’s love for you is personal, you don’t have to earn it, and it stays true on the days you can’t feel it.

No Bible background needed
1. THE QUESTIONWhy His love is hard to believe
2. THE PROOFWhy His love is personal
3. THE DRY DAYSWhat to do when you can’t feel it

You close your eyes to pray. The words seem to go up as far as the ceiling and stop there.

You believe God loves the world. You’ve heard it, sung it, maybe said it to someone else. You’re just not sure He loves you.

Maybe you know all the right answers. Maybe church hurt you. Maybe you’ve never been to church at all.

Either way, the question is the same: does God really love me?

The real problem

Most doubts about God’s love start with a picture of God, and the picture is often wrong

When you imagine God looking at you, what’s on His face? A smile? A frown? Disappointment? Or nothing at all, because He seems too busy running the universe to notice you?

Most people who struggle to believe God loves them don’t have a problem with the Bible’s words. They have a problem with the picture. The book names five common reasons people doubt His love.

Do any of these sound like you?

  • A harsh or absent father, so the words “God the Father” bring up fear instead of comfort
  • Guilt over things you’ve done, including some you’ve never told anyone
  • Church hurt, from the very people who were supposed to show you God’s love
  • Unanswered prayer: you asked for something that mattered, and the answer seemed to be silence
  • “I just don’t feel it.” You feel nothing when you pray, so you decide God’s love must be for other people

Under all five, the book finds the oldest lie in the Bible. In the garden, the serpent made God sound stingy, as if He were holding back good things. That lie was about God’s character, and it is still being told today.

The answer

God’s love for you is personal. You don’t earn it. It doesn’t depend on your feelings.

That is the whole book in one sentence. The rest of it shows you where that answer comes from in the Bible, one passage at a time, with every reference given so you can look it up yourself.

John, one of Jesus’ closest friends, wrote: “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us” (1 John 4:16). Feelings come and go. Knowing and believing can stay. This book helps you know His love and believe it.

01

Personal

God knows your name, your history and your worries. He calls His people by name and says, “You are Mine.”

02

Not earned

“You are not loved because you are good. You are loved because God is good.”

03

Not a feeling

The clouds are real, but they don’t change the sun. Your feelings don’t change His love either.

04

Four simple habits for living loved: a few minutes each day, plus one day of rest each week.

How it works

Three parts, eight short chapters, one honest question

First…

See why His love is so hard to believe

Part 1 looks at the five common reasons people doubt God’s love and the lie underneath them. Then it shows what the Bible means by “God is love,” through two words: hesed, the steadfast love that stays, and agape, the love that gives.

Your first step takes a few minutes: finish the sentence “When I picture God looking at me, I see…” in one honest line.

Then…

See the proof that His love is personal

Part 2 shows that God knew you before you were born and calls His people by name. It shows that He loved you before you were good. It walks you through three people Jesus met face to face, including a man nobody would touch. And it shows why the cross is personal: “the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Finally…

Know what to do when you can’t feel it

Part 3 is for the dry days. It explains why feelings are real but are not a measure of God’s love. It teaches you to pray honestly when God feels far away, using a simple three-part pattern from Psalm 13.

Then it gives you four simple habits for living loved: ten minutes a day in one Gospel, a “child to Father” prayer, a weekly Sabbath rest, and receiving love through God’s people.

Two pictures of God

The picture the Bible shows vs. the picture you may be carrying

What the Bible shows
The old picture
After the first sin, God came looking: “Where are you?”
God is waiting for you to come crawling back
He loved you first, “while we were still sinners”
God will love you once you fix your life
He calls you by name and carves you on the palms of His hands
God loves people in general, and you’re lost in the crowd
His love stays the same, like the sun behind the clouds
A good week means God is pleased, a bad week means He is far away
Jesus told a man nobody would touch, “I am willing”
God is powerful, just not willing to help someone like you
What God says

Six Bible passages the book walks you through

Quoted from the New King James Version, the translation the book uses.

“I have called you by your name; You are Mine.”

Isaiah 43:1. God first spoke these words to His people, Jacob and Israel. Chapter 3 asks you to read the verse out loud with your own name in their place.

“See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.”

Isaiah 49:16. To inscribe means to write or carve something so it stays. God says you can’t be lost from His mind.

“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8. Chapter 4 shows why God’s love is where you start, not a reward you earn.

“I am willing; be cleansed.”

Mark 1:41. The man didn’t doubt that Jesus could help him. He doubted that Jesus wanted to. Jesus touched him first.

“The Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Galatians 2:20. Chapter 6 moves the cross from a fact about history to a fact about you.

“They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:23. Written in a time of great loss. God’s faithfulness isn’t a feeling you have to produce. He brings it fresh every morning.

Each passage is in the book, with its reference and a plain explanation.

About the book

Plain words, straight from the Bible, with no pressure

Does God Really Love Me? is by Dr. Raymond Campbell and published by SCG Publishing. Every idea is explained in plain words, and every Bible passage comes with its reference, so you can look it up for yourself. When a church word has a special meaning, the book explains it right beside it, and you can find it again in the glossary.

The book makes you a promise: it “will not pressure you, argue with you or ask you to pretend.” It is also honest about its limits. It is written for spiritual encouragement and education, and it does not replace a counselor or a doctor. If you are carrying deep grief, depression or trauma, it asks you to get that help too.

Start with the book today. If you want to go further, Known and Loved, the book’s companion video course, is offered right after your order.

Decision time

You can keep measuring God’s love by your feelings, or check what He has said

Path one: keep guessing from how you feel

A good week feels like God is pleased. A bad week feels like He is far away. The question stays open, and the old picture of God stays where it is.

Path two: start with one honest sentence

Tonight, finish the line “When I picture God looking at me, I see…” Then test that picture against what God has said, chapter by chapter. When you finish the book, you write a new sentence and compare the two.

Questions, answered

Who is this for?

The book names three kinds of readers: people who have never been part of a church and wonder whether God is real and kind, people who used to go to church and drifted away or were pushed away, and believers who know the right answers but still feel a gap between what they believe and what they feel.

I don’t know much about the Bible. Can I still read it?

Yes. You don’t need to know anything about the Bible to read it. Every idea is explained in plain words, every passage comes with its reference, and church words are explained the first time they appear. A 17‑term glossary at the back lists them all.

Will this book make me feel God’s love?

The book doesn’t promise you a feeling. It says feelings are real, but they are not a reliable measure of what is true. What it does is show you, from the Bible, what God has said about His love, so you can know it and believe it on the days you feel it and the days you don’t.

I’ve been hurt by a church. Is this for me?

Yes. Church hurt is one of the five reasons for doubt the book names, and it says plainly that people who show God poorly do not change who God is. When it suggests finding a church family, it tells you to go slowly and be honest about how church has hurt you before.

Does the book teach the Sabbath?

Yes. One of the four habits in Chapter 8 is a weekly Sabbath rest on the seventh day, from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday, which the book calls a gift, not a burden. It also suggests looking for a Bible-based church that keeps God’s commandments, including the seventh-day Sabbath. The companion course teaches the seventh-day Sabbath too, in its lesson on the commandments and the Sabbath.

Which Bible translation does it use?

The New King James Version. If you don’t have a Bible, the book points you to free options, including reading online at Bible Gateway.

How much time does it take?

Read at your own pace. Each chapter ends with a short summary, and many end with one small next step, such as a passage to read or a short prayer. None of them takes more than a few minutes. The four habits in the last chapter take a few minutes a day and one day a week.

What if I miss a day?

The book says it plainly: “Missing a day does not cancel God’s love. Just begin again.”

Is this counseling or therapy?

No. The book is written for spiritual encouragement and education. It is not a replacement for professional counseling or medical care. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, abuse or thoughts of harming yourself, please talk with a qualified professional as well as with God. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line. Find A Helpline lists free, confidential helplines in many countries.
